Rincell Debuts a Tabless 21700 Battery Cell Built for Drones

Battery tech doesn't get headlines the way new airframes do, but it decides what those airframes can actually do. At DroneX in London, US cell manufacturer Rincell unveiled the RC50T — a tabless 21700 lithium-ion cell designed specifically for drones, and it's already shipping to manufacturers.

The numbers are serious: 100 amps continuous discharge and 150 amps pulse from a standard 21700 format, with energy density above 265 Wh/kg. Tabless construction drops internal resistance to just 3 to 4 milliohms, so more of the stored energy reaches the motors as usable power instead of heat. It also accepts charge at up to 15 amps for fast turnaround between flights.

Built for the hard parts of flight

Rincell designed the cell for the highest-load phases of a mission — takeoff, climb, payload lift, and rapid maneuvering. That's exactly where FPV pilots live: punch-outs, hard freestyle moves, and heavy-lift camera rigs all demand cells that can dump current without sagging or cooking themselves.

The cell is also NDAA compliant, which matters as US manufacturers look for domestic supply chains. For pilots, the takeaway is simple: the next generation of high-performance packs is already being built around cells like this one.
