Wing and Walmart Name Denver and Seattle as Next Drone Delivery Markets for 2027

Wing and Walmart have named the Denver and Seattle metropolitan areas as the next markets for their drone delivery partnership, with service planned to launch in both regions in 2027.

The announcement adds two major markets to an expansion that will bring the companies' drone delivery service to nearly 20 US metro areas. Wing says its existing network already reaches more than three million customers.

New weather, new scale

The two markets push drone delivery into tougher operating conditions. Seattle brings near-constant rain, while Denver adds colder temperatures and winter weather — both real stress tests for a delivery aircraft. Wing's current fleet flies at up to 60 mph and carries packages weighing up to five pounds, completing thousands of residential deliveries each day.

The Denver news also lands amid local policy conversations already underway in Colorado. Communities including Northglenn, Thornton, and Longmont have been considering land-use rules for commercial drone delivery hubs as pre-applications for delivery facilities surface around Walmart locations.

For hobby pilots watching the commercial side grow, the takeaway is simple: drone delivery keeps scaling, and 2027 is shaping up to be its biggest year yet in the US.
